I had to look up what Unbound was, never heard of it before now. That in turn resolves directly ignoring those DNS servers you have set unless you have set it to forwarding mode.

I never passed DNS servers through clients before I'm pretty sure, I wouldn't have known how, or why I should.īy default clients will use the interface address for DNS which is served by Unbound in pfSense. If not DNS may be broken entirely for some clients since their DNS requests will be forced over the VPN.

No, What you saw in the above screenshot is the only part of the DHCP server I messed with, all the settings below that are default pfSense Yeah, this is almost certainly a DNS issue.Īre you passing those DNS servers to DHCP clients to use directly, in the DHCP server settings? Hallmark Movies said in Roku TV - pfSense - OpenVPN - : Netflix, Hulu, QVC won't stream at all, Prime streams fine:

I just switched over to Prime TV, that was also working. (We don't have data caps, have never had a throttling issue before)Įdit: My wife likes watching QVC, and that's streaming just fine right now, so it's not every streaming service. It's hard to even navigate the menus, and nothing will finish loading to watch. If I route the TVs around the VPN, that's when I get the slows. The only issue is you can't watch anything through a VPN because Netflix/Hulu/etc wont let you. If I route the TVs through the VPN, I can browse and load and I don't have any speed issues whatsoever. I get two behaviors whether I'm routing the TVs through the VPN or not. It's just off the VPN that it's slow, and seems to selectively allow certain services to work fine, and to gimp the up the VPN is something I did immediately, so I don't really have a before/after reference. But otherwise, it connects quickly when running through the VPN. I even tried running the TV through the VPN, by taking it out of the alias list, and curiously, it connected to Netflix just fine, and was as fast as you would expect, but you get the normal "You can't use a VPN" warning Netflix throws you.which is why I have the alias to bypass it. I even pulled the ethernet from the back, connected it to my laptop and did another speed test, and it was fine there as well.

But if I go to the TVs settings, and do a connectivity test, I get the full capacity of my Internet connection. Netflix gives me the 2-5 error, which seems to indicate some kind of network problem. The Roku TV in the living room however, is refusing to stream on a couple services. (Edit: No I can't, it has the same issues as the other TV) The TV in the bedroom is a FireTV, and I can stream any service from there just fine. I have an alias set up to allow my TVs to bypass the VPN I'm running on my router. I also see where somebody else has this same problem. Not entirely sure where to post this since I can't really identify the source of the problem. My cell phone uses it and my wife's tablet uses it to connect to my WiFi every day. I know I am giving it my correct password.

For instructions, refer to your router's user manual or visit the router manufacturer's website. If yes, you have to add your TCL Roku TV's Wireless MAC Address to your router's allowed list. However the TV rejects my att password giving the error code 014.41.ġ.Confirm you are selecting the correct wireless network nameĢ.Verify that you are entering the correct password. I imagine the modem needs to get the password from the TV in order to allow the TV to connect. The TV requires my att password in order to link up.

Resetting the TV and resetting the modem is no help at all. The Roku phone support does not have a clue either after making me jump through hoops for hours. No website with set answers is going to help this. My non AT&T cellphone links up to my WiFi using this password, no problem. Their phone support tells me the problem is my AT&T modem- a firewall or something. The TV finds my WiFi network but will not accept my password, giving me an error code 014.41. I cannot link up my new TCL Roku TV to my Uverse modem.
